Kathleen Alves
Lead Scheduling Coordinator
Kathy joined Colony Care in 2019 bringing with her a long, commendable history in homecare, where she has now worked for more than 30 years. She has always had a passion for helping seniors, and her dedication to “matching the right clients with the right caregivers” has made her an invaluable member of the Colony Care team. Clients and Caregivers alike often call just to hear her friendly voice.
Kathy is very close with her family, and especially enjoys spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoys going to the beach and loves the ocean.
Mary Beth Dowd
Director
Mary Beth joined Colony Care in 2021 and has been an eldercare professional for more than 35 years, working to ensure older adults have the resources they need to make informed decisions that lead to their best outcomes possible. She is a champion of an adult’s right to make their own choices, with no regard to age. Prior to joining the Colony Care team, Mary Beth served as a member of the Mason Wright Foundation board, and has actively supported the goals of the Foundation for over 30 years.
Mary Beth enjoys spending time with her husband and three children as well as her large extended family. When she has the time, there is nothing she likes more than reading a good book. She has a Bachelor’s in Social and Rehabilitation Services from Assumption College, with a Minor in English and a Certificate in Gerontology.
Courtney Ranson
Human Resources Assistant
Courtney joined Colony Care in 2020 after more than 5 years in a variety of medical office roles in medical offices in Massachusetts and Georgia. Courtney has also worked as a CAN, as well as a receptionist for Mason Wright Senior Living. Courtney manages the hiring process at Colony Care and is the bright, shining face that our employees first meet.
Courtney is currently pursuing a Bachelors’ degree at American International College, and when she is not at work or school, enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter as well as her extended family.
Kathy McEvoy, RN
Nurse
Kathy has been involved with home care for close to 40 years, working as a home health/hospice case manager until coming to work for Colony Care in 2017. She and her husband are originally from Massachusetts but have lived all over the United States and the world as he was a military officer. Kathy has two children. When not spending time with family, she volunteers with TAPS, a national organization for families who have suffered a military loss.
Alan T. Popp, MS
President
Alan’s deep understanding of home care and, in particular, the difficulties faced by family caregivers, comes in part from sharing caregiver duties with his wife in the early stages of her mother’s struggles with Alzheimer’s. He is also a certified assisted living administrator.
Alan is a native of Pittsburgh and a New Englander for more than thirty years. He and his wife live in Suffield, Connecticut with their two rescue cats and their horse, a Thoroughbred rescue. When Alan is not doing barn chores, you can usually find him gardening, landscaping or splitting wood. On rainy days he likes to read biographies.
A lifelong volunteer, Alan’s community involvement includes Foodshare communications committee, South Windsor Chamber Business Expo Committee Chair, Springfield Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, United Way of Pioneer Valley Campaign Cabinet and Salvation Army.

Zoralis “Z” Velez
Administrative Assistant
Z joined Colony Care in 2021 after three and a half years of experience working in both elder and health care settings. Z is bi-lingual/bi-Cultural Spanish and is often the first person people speak to when they call. Among other administrative duties, Z very capably manages the electronic visit verification system that tracks the services our caregivers provide.
Z is currently enrolled in classes to further her education, and in her free time enjoys food, art, and music.
Daisy Vera
Lead Scheduling Coordinator & Office Manager
Daisy joined Colony Care in 2017, first coming on-board as a Caregiver and then transitioning to the office in 2020. Prior to joining the Colony Care team, she worked for many years in Human Services with teens and young adults. Daisy is bi-lingual/bi-Cultural Spanish, providing a valuable support service to our Spanish speaking clients and staff. Her organizational skills keep our office running smoothly.
When Daisy is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their dog, as well as acting in a leadership role in her church.
